TestOS 2.1 – May Updates

TestOS 2.1 - May Updates

We at TestGrid believe in continuous learning and improvements and our latest updates illuminate what we built last month. The highlight of the month, we made scriptless testing FREE for the web, upto 50% faster scriptless testing with the new IDE, built native app testing, improved performance testing, visual testing and more. Lets dive deep into each feature.

1. Scriptless for Free

TestGrid has made  Scriptless testing FREE  to all. You can now author and execute unlimited scriptless test cases in Chrome browser without any limits. This means switching from manual testing now became easy and FREE. Try now – https://testgrid.io/codeless-testing

2. Codeless + IDE: The Best of Both Worlds

TestGrid offers more control to teams who do not want to sacrifice control by introducing the Codeless + IDE for both mobile and Web Testing. The features combine the ease of codeless test creation with the power of an integrated development environment. Testers can control transitioning to code for complex scenarios for both mobile and web platforms, hence catering to diverse skill sets within a team. It will not just help foster collaboration but also increase the turnaround time when it comes to automation.

3. Native Mobile Execution

Imagine the convenience of executing your native mobile app tests on a comprehensive suite of real devices. TestGrid is coming with the introduction of Android Native Execution and iOS Native Execution. This feature allows testers to run tests written on their system to be executed without any changes on the multiple real devices on the cloud. This feature will not just ensure mimicking of real-user interactions but also yield reliable results with faster issue detection. All you need to do is upload your main apk and then your test apk and see how wonderfully TestGrid executes the test while logging the status of the execution and providing a detailed report for the same. Works seamlessly with UiAutomator2 tests for Android, XCUITest for iOS

4. Performance Testing

Functional testing is important, but the user experience heavily relies on the app’s performance under various conditions. The previous version offered performance testing with no support to add data through external files.

With the new feature, you can upload a CSV file containing multiple data entries to simulate user load. Now, you can upload the JMX file of your JMeter code along with the CSV file that may hold as many users as you wish to test your script with.  Additionally, you can also select iteration now which gives you the flexibility to run your tests as many iterations as you want. So for example, if you select iteration as 5, then your test will execute for 5 iterations. Duration on the other hand gives you the flexibility to run your tests for a specified duration of time. If you select 10 minutes duration, your tests will run for 10 minutes before stopping.

5. Visual Testing 2.0

Design can either make an app or break the app, hence visual consistency is of utmost importance. TestGrid’s Visual Testing 2.0 gracefully addresses this challenge. With improvised image comparison, you can uncover visual discrepancies of specific parts on the page.

This enhancement provides you the flexibility to compare specific portions of the page or ignore certain parts. Consider a part on your app’s screen that changes dynamically, and that is something you would not want to consider as an issue. All you can do is ignore that portion while comparing the execution screenshots with the baseline screenshot. The Visual Testing feature comes as a built-in capability with your TestGrid account. You need not add any plugins or download some capability to use it. All you need to do is add a logger line in your code and you are all set to perform visual testing with your existing code.

6. Faster Scroll in Device Cloud

Scrolling through an app, be it web or mobile, is an important feature to navigate through the various functionalities it offers. TestOS 2.1 release comes with an enhancement to the scrolling performance which greatly reduces the latency. Now you can easily scroll efficiently through any app on TestGrid Real Device Cloud using your laptop’s trackpad or the mouse. Even if you think of changing the direction in between, you will be easily able to scroll to that location, without reversing the previous scrolls.

Conclusion

TestGrid’s new features and updates in the latest release are absolute problem solvers. Be it the native mobile execution, real-world performance testing, effortless cloud scrolling, or free scriptless test creation, these features can help you work on issues that become show stoppers for test execution. These updates offer something valuable to all, be it a lone tester, a startup, or a multinational corporation.
